Bird Watching
San Felipe is a lowland paradise of mangroves and shallow waters within a protected natural reserve. It’s home to flamingos and more than 35 bird species.
Some of the birds you may encounter include the Yellow-backed Oriole, Yellow-tailed Oriole, Green Jay, Yucatán Jay, Lesson’s Motmot, Turquoise-browed Motmot, Yucatán Woodpecker, Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Rose-throated Becard, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Summer Tanager, Tennessee Warbler, and Indigo Bunting.
Archaeological Sites & Colonial Towns
San Felipe is ideally located in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula, making it easy to explore some of the region’s most iconic destinations.
Visit Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, or discover Ek Balam, one of the Yucatán’s most fascinating archaeological sites. While not as famous as Chichén Itzá, Ek Balam receives far fewer visitors, allowing for a quieter and more intimate experience.
You can also explore the charming colonial towns of Valladolid, Tizimín, and other Pueblos Mágicos throughout the region.
Sightseeing & Cenotes
Being surrounded by a protected natural reserve means there are endless opportunities for sightseeing and wildlife viewing.
The region is also home to spectacular cenotes, natural sinkholes connected to one of the world’s largest underground river systems, where you can swim in crystal-clear freshwater.
