Yucatan Fly Fishing Package
Embark on a memorable all-inclusive fishing trip to the Tarpon Capital of the World. Designed for passionate anglers who loves privacy, silence and remarkable fishing.
As a family-run business we take care of you from the moment your flight lands until it’s your moment to go back.
We pick you up from Cancun Airport, Merida Airport, Tulum Airport or any resort in Riviera Maya in case you are already on holidays on a comfy A/C van.
Try your casting skills in a Protected National Park located in a small fishing village in the North of Yucatan Peninsula with only 2000 habitants, known as The Tarpon Capital of The World. This means, no tourists, no people, and no noise. Only you and your guide on the boat, the dream of every angler. Juvenile tarpon all year long, sharing environment with the silver king, corvina, permit, snook and more!
Experience fishing as never before with our signature split-day fishing: breakfast, sunrise fishing session, lunch, resting time, sunset fishing session, dinner and sleep.
Not visiting us is like going to Egypt and not seeing the pyramids in an angler’s version. We are the Everest for the anglers.
Our formula is a stress-free environment with outstanding fishing and exclusivity:
- Ground transportation adapts to your flight needs with no extra cost. Do not worry about flights schedules, extra nights, or extra fees
- No tourists! Our hotel is purely for anglers, limited to 8 anglers a week. We are the only hotel in San Felipe. *Other lodges advertise as San Felipe, but we are the one and only Hotel San Felipe de Jesus by Mena Fly Fishing.
- Our signature split-day fishing. It really makes a difference. Instead of one long session, we have a morning session, a break to avoid the hottest and slowest part of the day, recover, and prepare for a sunset session when also fish are ready to eat again.
- The most competitive price. We don't use third-parties, allowing us to be the highest-quality and still the cheapest fly fishing lodge in Yucatan.
- We take care of everything! Please, contact us to plan your trip

The local Area
San Felipe, the Tarpon Capital secluded from the rest of the world.
San Felipe, Yucatán is located 160 miles (3 hr 30 min driving) from Cancún and 122.9 miles (2 hr 30 min driving) from Mérida, Yucatán.
With only 2,000 inhabitants, San Felipe, Yucatan is one of Mexico’s hidden gems. It’s colorful streets (wooden hand made houses), peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking sunsets, warm people and delicious food, makes this place simply unmatchable.
The whole area offers a sub-humid warm climate, with an average temperature of 25.6 °C.
A true escape from the noise and people.

Boats and equipment
We take care of all the fishing equipment, however this is what we use.
For all operations, Tarpon Cay uses 18-foot pangas. For the juvenile tarpon fishery, 8 to 9-weight rods with floating lines are ideal. There are shots in a foot of shallow water. The key is to use tiny 1/0 wet flies and gurglers. For the shallow water in the lagoons, 40 to 50-pound mono leads are better than fluorocarbon because of their slower sink rate. The larger migratory tarpon will need 2/0 flies with 60- to 80-pound fluoro and rods weighing 10 to 11 pounds with an intermediate sinking line.
