All-Inclusive Fly Fishing Trip to San Felipe Mexico

Experience a memorable all-inclusive fly fishing trip in Yucatan, Mexico, at the considered Tarpon Capital of The World. Designed for passionate anglers who loves privacy, silence and remarkable fishing.

Not to be confused with Rio Lagartos, a mainstream tourist spot, where lodges usually advertise as San Felipe – Rio Lagartos.

Being a family-owned company, we look after you from the time your flight lands until it’s time for you to return.

We pick you up from Cancun Airport, Merida Airport, Tulum Airport or any resort in Riviera Maya in case you are already on holidays on a comfy A/C van.

Try your hand at casting at the Tarpon Capital of the World, a protected national park situated in a little fishing community of just 2000 people in the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. This implies that there won’t be any visitors, people, or noise. Every angler’s fantasy is to be on the boat with only you and your guide. All year long, juvenile tarpon share their surroundings with snook, corvina, permit, silver king, and more!

Experience fishing as never before with our signature split-day fishing: breakfast, sunrise fishing session, lunch, resting time, sunset fishing session, dinner and sleep.

It would be like traveling to Egypt and not viewing the pyramids from an angler’s perspective if you didn’t come see us. For the anglers, we are the Everest.

Our formula is a stress-free environment with outstanding fishing and exclusivity:

San Felipe, the Tarpon Capital secluded from the rest of the world.

San Felipe, Yucatán is located  160 miles (3 hr 30 min driving) from Cancún and 122.9 miles (2 hr 30 min driving) from Mérida, Yucatán.

With only 2,000 inhabitants, San Felipe, Yucatan is one of Mexico’s hidden gems. It’s colorful streets (wooden hand made houses), peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking sunsets, warm people and delicious food, makes this place simply unmatchable.

The whole area offers a sub-humid warm climate, with an average temperature of 25.6 °C.

A true escape from the noise and people.

Food and beverages during your stay is our anglers’ favorite

All meals and drinks are covered. All prepared with fresh ingredients from the day. Allergies, and special food requirements are covered by Fili.

We take care of all the fishing equipment, however this is what we use.

For all operations, Tarpon Cay uses 18-foot pangas. For the juvenile tarpon fishery, 8 to 9-weight rods with floating lines are ideal. There are shots in a foot of shallow water. The key is to use tiny 1/0 wet flies and gurglers. For the shallow water in the lagoons, 40 to 50-pound mono leads are better than fluorocarbon because of their slower sink rate. The larger migratory tarpon will need 2/0 flies with 60- to 80-pound fluoro and rods weighing 10 to 11 pounds with an intermediate sinking line.

Been coming here 4 years. We are treated like family, and you will be treated that way as well. The tarpon trips have never ceased to be great. Even when slows the guides find a way to provide shots at fish. The guides know the waters and the ecology amazing well resulting in successful days on the water. Great bird life with multiple species. I always enjoy my time here. I highly recommend Mana

A friend of mine recommended me Mena Fly fishing for tarpon. Javi was very communicative throughout the planning process, answering every email. Helped about gear, flies, best days to visit. We fished 5 days with our guide Carlos, which knew the best spots and had a great energy. Food was amazing and the best is the people taking care of us the whole time (front desk, cooking, house keeping) Would definetly recommend.
